Living in Midtown, Second Saturday has become my favorite day of the month. Rain or shine, I love feeding off the energy and creativity that oozes into the streets of our Midtown community. And tonight is no exception! Following is a checklist of must-see events I plan to attend to get my monthly dose of Midtown musings.
My fist stop will be Krazy Mary’s Boutique on 2527 J Street where I plan to fill up on Babycakes cupcakes, coffee and some holiday gifts from JenJems and other local jewelry designers. I'm going to keep my eye out for these "I'm so Hammered" earrings - I know just the person to give these to ;-) The Holiday Trunk Show runs from 12 – 5 PM.
Next is the Ambiguous Art Paddle Show at United State Boutique on 1014 24thStreet. Happening from 6 – 10 PM, this art show has toured the globe, showing the talent of local artists in Brooklyn, Barcelona, Las Vegas, and Paris. And tonight, the show will showcase 40-60 pieces including work from local artists, like, David Garibaldi, Amanda Lopez and John Stuart Berger!
Finally, I’m going to Blow Up! Well, not literally. I'll explain...Founded by DJ and promoter Paul Tunkin in London, England in 1993, Blow Up has become a legendary Brit Pop club night. To celebrate its 16thAnniversary, Blow Up is launching a series of Birthday Shows beginning with two one-off shows in the US - one of which is just steps away from my front door at the new Clubhouse 24 at 24th & J Street! Have I already mentioned how much I love Midtown?
The event will include a live performance from Th' Losing Streaks and a 60s fashion show by Opaline's Closet as well as some Ben Sherman giveaways!
The event will run from 9PM - 2AM and $7 will get you in the door.
