Sunday Sounds: Tristan Prettyman & Jason Mraz - Shy That Way

Last week an old friend of mine (way back from my grade school days at Presentation to be exact) shared a video with me on Facebook that he said reminded him of Joe and I. I'm still not exactly sure what from this video made him think of us, but I positively adore the sweet vocals of Prettyman and always swoon hearing Mraz on his guitar.  Thanks Jeff for thinking of us and sharing the video!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

This past weekend, my family celebrated a special milestone event - my Grandmother Christine Robinson's 80th birthday! Through raising five children, surviving three husbands and overcoming cancer, she lives her life with tremendous strength and grace.  She is a woman I try to emulate in both spirit and style.  In fact, she was the inspiration behind my 1940's themed wedding at St. Francis Church - the same place she married my grandfather nearly 60 years ago.

Below is a video of my grandmother and her twin sister Patti, savoring every moment before blowing out the candles on their birthday cake! :-)

Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

My Second Saturday Checklist

Living in Midtown, Second Saturday has become my favorite day of the month.  Rain or shine, I love feeding off the energy and creativity that oozes into the streets of our Midtown community.  And tonight is no exception! Following is a checklist of must-see events I plan to attend to get my monthly dose of Midtown musings.

My fist stop will be Krazy Mary’s Boutique on 2527 J Street where I plan to fill up on Babycakes cupcakes, coffee and some holiday gifts from JenJems and other local jewelry designers. I'm going to keep my eye out for these "I'm so Hammered" earrings - I know just the person to give these to ;-) The Holiday Trunk Show runs from 12 – 5 PM.

Next is the Ambiguous Art Paddle Show at United State Boutique on 1014 24thStreet.  Happening from 6 – 10 PM, this art show has toured the globe, showing the talent of local artists in Brooklyn, Barcelona, Las Vegas, and Paris. And tonight, the show will showcase 40-60 pieces including work from local artists, like, David Garibaldi, Amanda Lopez and John Stuart Berger!

Finally, I’m going to Blow Up! Well, not literally. I'll explain...Founded by DJ and promoter Paul Tunkin in London, England in 1993, Blow Up has become a legendary Brit Pop club night. To celebrate its 16thAnniversary, Blow Up is launching a series of Birthday Shows beginning with two one-off shows in the US - one of which is just steps away from my front door at the new Clubhouse 24 at 24th & J Street! Have I already mentioned how much I love Midtown?

The event will include a live performance from Th' Losing Streaks and a 60s fashion show by Opaline's Closet as well as some Ben Sherman giveaways!

The event will run from 9PM - 2AM and $7 will get you in the door.

Sac Foodies Dish it Out at Lounge ON20

In celebration of Fleishman-Hillard's 20 years in the Capitol City (of which I've been proud to be a part of for the past six and a half!), the ladies of www.sacfoodies.com will be dishing it out at Lounge ON20 to raise funds for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS).

For those of you not familiar with SFBFS, it's an organization that helps families in need find second chances and brighter futures through the delivery of free goods, services and education. The number of families seeking SFBFS assistance has risen by 35% in just the past year and currently helps 20,000 people each month — that’s more people than can fit into Arco Arena for a single Kings game!

So next Tuesday, December 8, from 6 - 9 PM, the entire FH office and Sac Foodies team will be out at Lounge ON20 serving up good eats for a good cause as 10% off all the sales from that eveing will be donated to SFBFS. You can learn more about the event and RSVP HERE!

"The Perfect Catch" Wedding Video

Related Posts with ThumbnailsIt's finally here - the director's cut of our wedding day video!  I have been looking forward to this video since our wedding and have to admit it was worth the wait!  It not only captures all of my favorite details, memories and the magic of our wedding day, but it includes some footage of my dear friend Nick that I will cherish forever! Thanks again to the incredibly talented Alan Silva of Artistic Imagery and his team for this beautiful video!
