We're Back and We're Engaged!!!

I thought that this blog post would be much easier to write. After all, I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. It’s been exactly two and a half years since the night I met Joe and told my sister Caroline that I had met the man I was going to marry.
But I’m struggling for words that truly portray how magical the moment was when this past week Joe spoke four words that even now seem so surreal, “Will You Marry Me?” The moment was so dreamlike that it was a good thing Joe also printed his proposal on an eight foot banner with 200 witnesses who, just in case, could have filled me in on what was truly happening. I'll explain…
On our first night in Montreux, Switzerland Joe and I went on a dinner cruise on Lake Geneva. The view from the boat was absolutely breath taking and Joe and I were thrilled to be in such a beautiful country and excited at the possibilities of adventure in the week ahead. We were enjoying dinner with new friends (Hi Chris and Melissa!) and when we were almost done with dinner I heard the sound of glasses clinking and the event organizer asking for everyone’s attention for a special announcement. I look in Joe’s direction and noticed his seat was empty. I began worrying he was going to miss the exciting news. So I began scanning the room and quickly focused my attention on an eight foot banner in front of our table that began to unroll. In what seemed to be slow motion, it revealed: Julie, Will You Marry Me? Joe. I became so affixed on the banner that it took me several moments (which seemed like an eternity to Joe) to realize that Joe was at my side on his knee, with a beautiful little box begging to be opened. I turned to him in complete shock, and as he opened the little box with his shaking hands, he asked me those four words. As I slipped my finger into a stunning sparkling ring, someone in the crowd awoke me out of my dreamlike state by yelling, “Is it a yes or a no?!?” I looked at Joe with an unimaginably large grin (on my face and in my heart) and said “YES!”
Flashes began going off, people were clapping and the tears began to flow!!! We were lucky enough to have Chris capture the moment on video. You can watch the video below (I've already watched it about a dozen times today!)
As for the rest of the week, it was simply AMAZING! Below is one of my favorite photos and we will be sure to share more soon!
