Sac Foodies Dish it Out at Lounge ON20

Related Posts with Thumbnails

In celebration of Fleishman-Hillard's 20 years in the Capitol City (of which I've been proud to be a part of for the past six and a half!), the ladies of www.sacfoodies.com will be dishing it out at Lounge ON20 to raise funds for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS).

For those of you not familiar with SFBFS, it's an organization that helps families in need find second chances and brighter futures through the delivery of free goods, services and education. The number of families seeking SFBFS assistance has risen by 35% in just the past year and currently helps 20,000 people each month — that’s more people than can fit into Arco Arena for a single Kings game!

So next Tuesday, December 8, from 6 - 9 PM, the entire FH office and Sac Foodies team will be out at Lounge ON20 serving up good eats for a good cause as 10% off all the sales from that eveing will be donated to SFBFS. You can learn more about the event and RSVP HERE!

SacFoodies SacTweetUp Scavenger Hunt Video!

Last week, my colleagues and I participated in the first-ever SacTweetUp Scavenger Hunt.  The event kicked off at Morton's and was sponsored by Luxx Limo, which meant we got to ride in style as we travelled through Downtown and Midtown searching for destinations from our list of clues.  Lucky for us, many of the clues directed us to some of our favorite Sacramento restaurants including Hot Italian, Loung ON20 and Mulvaney's B&L - which also helped us bring home a second place win along with accolades for "Best Photos!"  Below is a video created by Luxx Limo highlighting our journey.

Sacramento Musician Flaunts His Chops on Style Network!

One of the perks of writing this blog is getting emails like the one I did from Jonathan Colombini of Midtown’s Spanish Fly Hair Garage who informed me of  the salon's  appearance on this Saturday’s episode of one of my favorite Style Network shows, Split Ends

If you’re not familiar with the show, essentially two polar opposite stylists swap salons as viewers watch the hair-raising drama unfold.  Spanish Fly submitted a demo tape that introduced Style Network to the Sacramento salon’s unique culture and cast of characters to be considered for the show.

Soon after, the network sent Spanish Fly stylist (and front man for local band Lonely Kings) Jake Desrochers to First Impressions Salon in Bristol, Virginia where he swapped shears with stylist Amy Bland.  After a week long of taping, Jonathan said the camera crew captured some not-to-be-missed moments that include cameos from other Spanish Fly stylists including himself, Amithyst Bailey and Anthony Paganelli and owners Shannon Marlin and Michael Sylvestre.

Be sure to tune in this Saturday at 8:00 PM on Style Network.  And if you miss it, not to worry, the salon has plans to host a viewing party at Lounge ON20 on January 9 @ 6:30 pm!!

It's my party and I'll dress up if I want to!

Having a birthday so close to Halloween, I’ve been conditioned to LOVE this holiday (or any other reason to dress up for that matter). I was at my parents’ house this past weekend and found a picture of my favorite costume of all time…a purple sequin, satin and tulle tutu my mom handmade for me on my fourth birthday. She said as soon as I put it on, I oddly started standing on my toes (oh, the magic of costumes) and practically lived in it for the next nine months.

Fast forward 26 years, I love dressing up just as much as the four year old girl in this photo.  That’s right, do the math….I’m turning the BIG 3-0!!!  But thank goodness I don’t have to go it alone.  Just eight days ago, Joe put his 20’s to rest and upgraded to a new decade.  So together, instead of mourning our 20’s, we’ve been ringing in our 30’s with friends and family and, as you can see from the photos, in 70’s disco fashion! And like the four year old who wouldn’t put her purple tutu away, I can’t stand the thought of not getting full use out of my fabulous silver lurex jumpsuit!  With so many Halloween happenings around town it looks like I’ll get good use of it :-)

Below are just a few of the Halloween events happening around town where you just may spot Joe and I in all of our afro, polyester and silver lurex glory!

If Fall Were a Cocktail

Last night I joined my dear friend, and future bridesmaid, Heather for drinks and appetizers after work.  We decided to try out Lounge ON 20’s new happy hour with $10 tastings of wine, bubbles or beer and $5 cocktails.  In celebration of the beginning of my favorite season, I decided to try the daily cocktail special, a delicious apple and sage martini.  OMG, it was as if the mixologist combined all my favorite smells and tastes of fall then added gin.  I had three…what can I say? I LOVE fall :-)

Check out Lounge ON 20's happy hour, Monday - Friday, 4 – 7 pm
